An institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, the Usa River Rehabilitation Centre’s 54 staff support a group of 147 students with special needs, through vocational training, secondary school, and income projects.

Having to undergo medical treatment for a long time, many cancer patients of the KCMC are known to struggle with accommodation during the period of their treatment. Particularly for children, even if the treatment itself is offered for free, offering accommodation is necessary to enable them to complete their treatment. To remedy this, the KCMC is undertaking the construction of a hostel for cancer patients, planned to offer a total of 60 rooms. An institution of the ELCT closely linked with the Lutheran World Federation from the outset in the early 1960s, the hospital serves today some 800-1,000 outpatients on a daily basis.
