11 December 2019, Madrid, Spain: "We will rise" reads a sign, as hundreds of civil society and other actors hold an unauthorized protest outside the plenary hall of COP25 in Madrid, to draw attention to the failures of the climate talks and to call on rich countries to step up and pay up for real solutions, and to highlight the threat of loopholes, false solutions like carbon markets, and the need for those who caused the climate crisis to pay up for loss and damage while respecting human rights.
