  • 3 June 2019, Djohong, Cameroon: Children dance as part of an intercultural event at the 'Ecole Publique de Borgop 2' (Public School of Borgop 2). Borgop 2 teaches children from the Borgop camp for Central African Republic refugees, and concerted efforts are being made by local authorities in collaboration with the Lutheran World Federation to encourage peaceful cohabitation among refugees of different ethnic groups and religions, and with host communities in the area. The Borgop refugee camp is located in the municipality of Djohong, in the Mbere subdivision of the Adamaoua regional state in Cameroon. Supported by the Lutheran World Federation since 2015, the camp currently holds 12,300 refugees from the Central African Republic.

  • 7 March 2022, Budapest, Hungary: Fredrick Konor from Ghana holds a sign saying 'Can I help?' at Nyugati station in Budapest, where he helps newly arrived African students coming to Hungary from Ukraine find their way. A Budapest residence, Fredrick speaks Hungarian and is therefore able to help bridge the language barries many otherwise face upon arrival in Budapest. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on 24 February 2022, the Nyugati train station in Budapest has become a central entry point for refugees arriving by train from the Ukrainian border areas in northeast Hungary. At the station, a range of civil society organisations and other volunteers offer support to incoming refugees, including support in arranging free accommodation, tickets for onward travel, as well as necessary items such as snacks and food, diapers for the children, clothes and basic medical supplies.

  • 3 June 2019, Djohong, Cameroon: Amadou Adamou, a thirty-year-old refugee from Bocaranga in CAR runs a shop in the Borgop camp, where he sells rice, flour, biscuits, soap and sugar. With support from the Lutheran World Federation, he has managed to move away from taking credit from other merchants, into becoming an independent storeowner.<br />

Adija says she has been braiding hair since she was 13 years old, and today knows more than ten different types of braids. The end of Ramadan is drawing near, so people in the mostly Muslim Borgop refugee camp are decorating themselves in preparation for celebrations of the end of the annual period of fasting.
