  • 5 March 2023, Bielsko-biała, Poland: Flowers decorate the altar, as Sunday service is celebrated at the chapel of the Cieszyn Diocese of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland, in the House of Betania. The House of Betania is not only used for Sunday worship, but has become the home of a number of refugee families from Ukraine, following the Russian invasion in February 2022. The church has renovated the buildings in order to accommodate families in a dormitory style, with private rooms for each family and a shared kitchen, dining room, playing room and hygiene facilities. The house currently hosts 7 families making up a total of some 20 people, most of them women and children.

  • 12 March, 2022, Partizánska Ľupča, Slovakia: Rev. Jan Molcan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Partizánska Ľupča shows images on his phone from how he placed an orthodox icon on the altar of his church. The icon was brought to the church by Ukrainian refugees as they came to pray one Sunday, and the pastor placed the icon on the altar as a token of hospitality and welcome. The 150-person strong congregation at Partizánska Ľupča has received and currently hosts 82 Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war caused by the Russian invasion of the country in late February. While 22 of the refugees live in a building connected to the parsonage, 60 are being hosted directly in families of the congregation.
